The progress of a phone card
Phone cards were introduced over thirty years ago before the mobile phone was a regular occurrence and very quickly became popular, especially with anyone who was travelling overseas on holiday. Many people would buy a phone card with a specific amount on it and locate the nearest telephone to accept phone cards to let their nearest and dearest know that they had landed safely and what the weather was like.Phone cards are still used in this manner but now it is possible to make these calls home to the United Kingdom from any country in the world without having to use an actual card. You can have prepaid international calling cards that have a specific amount on them but you can use an access code to make the call. This also means that you are able to use any telephone to make your phone call, even your mobile phone. Many people choose to set up a direct debit or use their credit card to keep a balance on their phone cards
