You may be thinking that this could never happen to you, but according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an estimated 1,417,745 violent crimes occurred nationwide in 2006. When data for 2006 to 2005 were compared, the estimated volume of violent crime increased 1.9 percent. Therefore, according to these statistics, it is more likely for you to be a victim of a violent crime.
